Upgrade OS on VOYO Q101 Tablet?

Lurker
Hi, all, have a small problem with my VOYO Q101, (not with its performance as a tablet, that is fine, nice screen, reasonably quick, runs well on 5Gig wi-fi and what more can one ask, having bought it with the knowledge that it doesn't cover B28 5G band)?
My question is, How to upgrade from Android 6.0 to Android 7, (as was the OS at the time I ordered it), and when mine was delivered, LO and BEHOLD, Android 6.
Now having downloaded the files as .rar files from the VOYO website and unpacked them to micro SD card, done the "Reboot with volume "-" button held down, going thru the initial setup procedure, STILL ON ANDROID 6!! .............Frustrating.............
Have been in touch with support at Banggood, who sent me Chinese .rar files, the problem there being: I can't read Chinese ........ I must admit, the person was as helpful as they could be, given the circumstance, and the last suggestion made was I get a local Tablet service-person to do the upgrade at their expense, which was nice of them, but ...... finding a local expert, now there is a problem ........

Can download the 7.x update rar for this tablet from here.

I can read Chinese, however I don't have this device of course so can't run this file. Suggest you post some screen-shots or photos of it here, so we can possibly see what's going on and what it's saying, and maybe translate it.
I don't know what happened there, but half of my reply to your offer disappeared, I am still learning to "drive" this forum so please have a little patience with me ...........
In answer to your question,Yes, I did download from there also, and the result was the same as with the .rar files from the support person at Banggood, with resulting messages (to me), appearing the same.
There is no great hurry for the upgrade, just would like to do it ......

Is it a Mediatek or something update tool that runs on a PC(Windows) and it's all in Chinese?

Banggood are a Chinese wholesaler, and what they sent you would very likely come from Voyo anyway.

I'm sorry mikedt, I'm not sure about the origin of the files, Mediatek or not, at some stage of "stepping through" the Chinese labels, English results came up, one stage claiming "no siutable (sic) AP found" (I forget the exact term used, but the meaning was clear for that "test")

I'm sorry mikedt, I'm not sure about the origin of the files, Mediatek or not, but at some stages of "stepping through" the Chinese labels, English results came up when the "power" button was pressed, one stage claiming "no siutable (sic) AP found" (I forget the exact term used, but the meaning was clear for that "test")
Also sorry about the delay in responding to you post, have been a little busy today!!
Hopefully I will be able to settle down to some earnest studying of exactly what happens when and where during the attempted install, once again, thank you for your patience .......
