Upgrade Question

I'm planning on upgrading two out of three of my current lines to new phones. My question is what happens with the third phone, can I upgrade it at any time after the contract is extended? If that is the case, would the price be the same as getting the phone on an extended two-year contract, or would I have to pay full price for that phone? This line is currently eligible for upgrade, but the owner doesn't want to upgrade quite yet.

Thanks.

that line will remain eligible for upgrade......... the problem with this is the contracts will be offset........ the contract on the third line will be 2yrs from the time he decides to upgrade

Every line has its own contract, once you reach 20 months into the contract you can upgrade at a discounted price and sign another two year deal. If you haven't upgraded after 24 months that line converts to month to month and is still eligible for upgrade at a discounted price.

that is correct........ every line has a seperate contract....... which sounds seamless in theory til you think about it...... heres an example:

lets use todays date and assume fake contract dates and fake $$ amounts on a shared family plan

husband- contract ends 3/12
wife contract ends 3/12
daughter- got phone added to plan later so contract ends 6/13

now if on the shared family plan with the way they price it the total $$ comes to $150 (not actual $)

so in 3/12 the husband and wife contracts end........ in theory at this point they could cancel their plan and goto ATT etc.... however the daughters contract still has a year left on it so they cant...because even though the daughters line is a $10 line if you cancel the husband/wife portion then hers has to convert to a single plan..... then they would be on different carriers and be paying $150 to ATT plus $50 to VZW......... another problem is......... forget about calling in to customer loyalty..... the have you by the short hairs...... they know theres nothing you can do for another year

lol to make things even worse than that example......... on my account we actually have 3 different contract dates..... all 6 months apart

its easily fixed by going month to month on each line til they all get back in sync........ but this would mean the first line would have to go 3 years before upgrading....... not an ideal situation

Thanks for the responses! One last question. If all three lines were upgraded on the same day, but upgraded at separate locations (say: 2 @ Costco, 1 @ Corporate Verizon Store), everything should work out fine, correct?

correct........ it doesnt matter where they are upgraded if all done at same time then contracts will be on same day

dont get too worked up about the same day jazz either..... I was just pointing out 1 potential issue........ simply because Im goin through it myself...... couldnt get anywhere with loyalty cause another line has a year left
