Upgrade return?

Hi all!

I have a question upgrading that's a little complicated. My mom ordered two vortexes BOGO over the phone with verizon. I read a few reviews and realized the vortex is not going to be very good for me. Online it still shows both lines as eligible for upgrades. Can I go buy an Incredible instore using my upgrade before the vortex arrives and have my mom return my vortex without opening it when it arrives some time this week?

Return your vortex using the fedex label that will come in the box. Call in and order the incredible. Ask them to waive the restocking fee since you didn't activate the vortex. I don't remember if the vortex was bogo or boga, so you may need to pay for the Incredible.
 
Should I have her return both phones then? I was going to go to Best Buy because they have the Incredible for free. I got screwed out of upgrading by about twenty minutes because my mom is an idiot. Verizon never ordered the phones Sunday night like they said they did and so even after I said I didn't want a Vortex and telling the rep we only wanted one for her line, they refused and put the order in as BOGO again. She was on the phone doing this without telling me as I was on my way to Best Buy to upgrade. They're going to arrive tomorrow, and now I'm nervous because I read quite a few horror stories about lost phones being returned with Fedex. I don't want to end up paying for a phone I didn't want and was forced upon me. Is returning by Fedex safe to do?
 
You don't need to return both, just make sure that you take the box with the phone and the label to a fedex location and get a receipt showing that fedex has the package, also keep the other half of the label which will give you a copy of the tracking number. If there's a question about the phone not being returned, you have proof which can be faxed into a customer care call center.

In order to get that Incredible at BB, you need to wait for the warehouse to receive the device back and reset your upgrade eligibility. Use the tracking number and wait at least 3 business days after the tracking number shows the warehouse got it back before calling in.

Or, you can take the vortex to a local corporate store (cannot stress this enough, make sure it's a corporate store, not a reseller) and return it there (some stores don't like to do this, but they can accept a wfg return from direct fulfillment). You will have a much harder time getting the restocking fee waived, but your upgrade eligibility will be reset on the spot. Then you could go to BB and get an Incredible. Your choice.
