Upgrade to LG Optimus V

I currently have the Samsung Intercept. My girlfriend became fed up with it and gave it to me. Now I understand why!

This is by far the laggiest phone I've ever had. When answering a call, it takes a few seconds for the slider button to register that you actually slid it. There are many other things that make this phone a poor performer.

Will I have a similar experience with the Optimus V?

Not at all! The Optimus V is touted to be incredibly reliable by almost everyone on these forums who has had one. I don't think the is much lag in the UI at all in the OV

Not at all. ;) As long as you don't make the mistake that a lot of others do by putting more apps on the phone than what it was designed to handle, and if you keep in mind of the phones limitations (by some standards it doesn't have a lot of room for apps), then you will love the OpV. It's a sturdy and smooth running little phone. :)

I ditched the intercept yesterday and picked up the optimus v from radio shack for 79.99! For some reason, they had to charge me ten dollars whixh went into my VM account as a top up. Weird... They also switched me over to the new phone in the store for me. Never had that happen before when upgrading.

I do have a few questions about the phone...

My intercept would group numbers when I was dialing and also in my call log
I.E... xxx-xxx-xxxx. However the optimus just bunches them together without dashes. Is this an option I can enable?

My camera button does not work. Is it supposed to launch the camera app? It currently does nothing.

Lastly, when I open Gmail or k9 mail, it automatically rotates the screen into landscape mode. Is there a way to make it stay in portrait mode when I am holding the phone that way?

If your camera button doesn't work, take it back & make them give you a new phone. You can disable auto-rotate in Settings>Display, but that'll disable it everywhere. Sounds like you might've gotten a bum phone. :( Make RS make it right!

I was mistaken about the camera button. Apparently there are two levels two it. One is designed to focus the camera, and the final push is to take the picture. In order to launch the camera app, you must push it all the way down. Dooohhh...

Does anyone know about the phone number grouping issue?

Well that's good. :) Your proximity sensor might still be screwy, tho...
I don't think you can do anything about the way #s are displayed in the call log. It looks like it's a simple space issue. If you tap on an entry in the call log, the # is displayed with the dashes, tho. Honestly, I never paid attention to this until you asked because I just look at the name.

hey what are the steps you did to overclock your phone?

Look in the OV All Things Root subforum.

I am looking at my call log right now and all of my entries are XXX-XXX-XXXX or (XXX) XXX-XXXX, even those not in my contacts.

I am running BACKside ROM, so for me it is Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> Performance -> CPU settings

If you're not running BACKside it may be different. You do need to be rooted and running a custom ROM or non stock kernel.

Yeah to overclock you at least need to flash a new kernel. You may as well just flash BACKside though and use the full potential of the phone.
