Upgraded lately? Sell me your phone!

Long story short: We needed to do one thing to get my husband's EnVTouch replaced by Asurion and we ended up doing another. As such we now have to fax in some docs to pay $50 for a replacement. He's always had LG phones and he's always had bad luck with them. First the Chocolate and now this EnVTouch. If we replace it with another Touch it'll be number 3. All of that aside, to get to the closest place where we can PAY to fax off this junk is gonna screw up in gas and if we have to spend that money I figure might as well spend that plus the $50 we're already gonna spend anyway and upgrade him. Seems like a better use of funds. So. Does anyone have a phone in serviceable condition that they are willing to sell? It has to be Verizon (obviously that's why I posted it here) and I'd need pictures and all that jazz. I'm hoping someone who just HAD to upgrade has something they're not using and wouldn't mind selling. I'd be willing to consider a LG phone because for some reason he likes them. (I'm not sure if the bad luck is on the phones or on him.)

TIA!!

Have you tried looking on ebay? I have read of a number of people getting a good price on their phones there. If he is set on an LG I know that there is the LG Ally though I have never used one (someone I work with has one and has liked it). I am kinda partial to the D1 myself.

Also how far into his contract is he. If he is over a year then he might be able to get an upgrade from Verizon for agreeing to extend the contract (though they are about to discontinue that option soon (on January 16th I think).

There is also a forum for classifieds here that may have what you want listed.

Is it reasonable to assume you're looking for an Android phone (since you're posting on an Android forum), or would he be OK with an old flip phone? Or does he want a feature phone with a keyboard like his old EnV?

He really wants a keyboard. I'd just like him to get an Android phone so he can keep his mitts off of mine.

I've looked around on Ebay. I'm just not trying to pay new prices for used equipment. Sometimes the bidding wars get out of control.

Seriously though what makes these people think I'm going to pay the same price I'd pay if I pushed his contract renewal up for a USED phone?

Ah, OK...we might have an original EnV available soon, but that won't help him get his Android fix :D Plus it's starting to go on the fritz anyway...

As for the price of used phones, they can definitely seem like a rip-off, but keep in mind that our expectations ($200 for a top-of-the-line Android!) are based on carrier-subsidised prices. When you consider that full retail prices on these devices are more like $500-700, then $200 for a used one seems more palatable.

Of course, why anyone would ever pay full retail for a Verizon phone when that doesn't offer you any carrier choice or get you any break in the price of a monthly plan...no idea.

Very valid points in the last two paragraphs.

I will be getting a new Blackberry World Edition 8830, I have had it for 2 years, now they are giving me a new one.

Also, I will be getting the HTC Thunderbolt and then selling it.

I might be able to get my hands on an old chocolate. It is very old, but its still in perfect condition. Once I get my phone I'll send you a message and if you still need it I'll send it you way. TBO, if you still need it by then I'll just ask you to pay shipping and you can have the phone.
