upgraded my sd card - now my phone is going batty!

I've got an LG Optimus S and I'm ready to throw it against the wall! I successfully fixed the original sd card problem (with it mounting and unmounting), but that was before I started customizing my phone.

I recently purchased an 8 gb micro sd card. I'd read online that it was as simple as copying and pasting my old info to a new card. That's wrong I do believe.

No matter WHAT I do, none of my ringtones or notifications work correctly! I've formatted the card in the phone and basically started over anew, downloaded different ones and still the same thing. I downloaded Rings Extended from the Market after I formatted the card (I didn't feel like going back into the folder and putting my notification tones in myself, lol). I get random notification tones now for everything. And the worst part - I didn't format my 2 gb that I had in it since the mounting fix, I put it back in. The first time it was okay. I thought maybe I had a bad copy or the memory card needed to be reformatted again. I tried with no success, put my original back in, and now it's doing it! Nothing was changed on the original!

Any suggestions about this? I know it's a small issue, but it's annoying as heck! Any help is greatly appreciated :)

When you say 'I started customizing my phone' - do you mean custom ROMs?

If not, I'd start from scratch again. Format the SD card, copy your ringtones manually to the right folders and try selecting them again.

See if that works. My money is on the ringtone app not working correctly.

However, your mounting/unmounting SD card sounds like another potential problem that might cause this problem.

no, i've not rooted the phone yet...i'm a little nervous about that. i'm afraid of making it an expensive paperweight, and my backup phone (a bb 8530) sucks.

i would say the ringtone app is messed up, which it could be and i'm going to uninstall and start all over again - but it was doing this before i installed it. and i've got my notification ringtone set, but it's random everytime.

and with the mounting/unmouting issue - google it. it's a known issue with this phone. i swapped out the factory sd card for a samsung i was using in my wii. i have no issues with either memory card now. my wii hasn't showed an error with the optimus factory card, and my phone quit mounting/unmounting since using the samsung.
