upgrading 1.5 to 2.1

hey everyone,

i was thinking about getting the motorola i1 from boost mobile when it launches and i hear it runs android 1.5. is it possilbe to update that to a newer version like 2.1 or would i be stuck with 1.5 forever? i havent had much experience with an android phone. thanks

typically, if it ships with 1.5, you are stuck till the wireless providers updates.
