Upgrading from M7 - battery comparison?

Hi all. I have the M7, and love it, not a fault in two years. But I'm due for my contract upgrade, and am looking at all the obvious choices (M8, M9, Z3 etc).

The M9 is standing out, simply because it's an improvement on the M7 which I love. But the one thing that I keep reading is that the battery life is disappointing, and not as good as the M8. So then I thought about getting the M8 instead, but just feel that I would be missing out on too many exciting new features with the latest handset.

So, I want to try and put this into some sort of perspective. How does the battery life of the M9 compare with the M7?

I'm a normal user (facebook, twitter, browsing, basic games, quite a lot of messenger which seems to eat the battery) but definitely not a hard core gamer. Appreciate any advice!

If you're getting your next phone on an upgrade/contract & your overall monthly bill is gonna be the same regardless (less a possible down payment),I'd wait until the M10(?) comes out later this year.

It's hard for me to compare battery life on a phone I had two years ago, but,I think I can safely state the battery life of the M9 is better than that of the M7,given the latest round of updates:

Thanks, that's very helpful. Good to know they have addressed the situation somewhat.

Anyone else with any experience between the two devices?

Just me again, however,in the meantime awaiting others to chime-in,take a look at this battery test/results comparison guide:

While no two tests/users are alike, the results are quite different from the M7 to the M9.
You should feel confident you'll be getting a much better phone & increased battery life with the M9.
Win/Win. :thumbsupdroid:

Well, I've got it!

It's kind of weird, since my first mobile phone back in the dark ages, each 18 months my upgrade has been a huge step up since the last one, with ground breaking new technology and features. This is practically the same phone, with just a few things polished since the previous M7. But hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it - all looking good so far.

The one think I did like about the M7 vs the M8/M9 is the capacitive buttons.
But,you do get an SD Card slot & larger capacity battery w/the M9.
It's a great phone.Enjoy! :thumbsupdroid:
