Help Upgrading the memory card

I've only just got my first xperia pro yesterday and already fill up the 2gig mini sdhc (pritty pore offering from sony, my W995 had an 8 gig!) so as I'm still new I have a question about upgrading to 16 GIG,

When I get a 16 GIG Class 10 do I just copy the folders from the old card to the new or do I need to run some sort of format and backup software on the new card?
 
Usually you have to format a new SD card before you can use it. Yes, you can copy the files from the old memory card to the new one. However as far as I know the installed app are installed on a Hidden folder on the SD card so I'd suggest to move all the apps back to the SD before you put the new one on your phone.
 
Ok minior bug in the phone but after a couple of power offs 1 app realised it had been installed to the old card not the new. As it was a game it was no big loss.
