Help Upgrading your Android

Hi guys,

New to the forums here :b I've always wanted to know how you upgrade your android. I've never upgraded my Android before and I bought my SGS in August 2010, so I believe my version is Android 2.1? I'm pretty sure that the 2.2 version is out, so can anyone tell me how I can upgrade my Android 2.1 to 2.2?

Also, what are the advantages & disadvantages of upgrading your Android?

Going to bed now.. Really hoping to get some answers by tommorow :) Will eventually check on my phone at school :)

Install KIES 2 to your computer, connect the phone to the computer in KIES mode, check for updates with KIES you might not have updates in your region yet. You can also use ODIN to install the update. Search the forums on how to do this.

As the subject line. There are problems with Android 2.2 and Orange branded phones. I would recommend you do not upgrade if you have one of those.

I have the galaxy s on the Orange network, but unable to upgrade to Android 2.2 what are the issues concerning orange and the upgrade ?

I read some where the other day that Orange put a tweet on twitter saying: Froyo 2.2 will be rolled out some time in January for there UK customers.

If you can't wait use odin to flash to Froyo 2.2.1 JPY, and get rid of all the bloatware at the same time.It will debrand your phone and void your warranty.

The other way to go would be to flash to Froyo 2.2 using odin and then connect your phone to kies, it should offer the update to 2.2.1, then your back on official firmware.
