USB Flash Drive

My Android devices can read my flash drive contents. But I cannot open a document on the flash drive from my Android device, nor can I copy one to the Android device from the flash drive.

Works fine on my Windows 10 desktop.

For example: if I try to open an index.html file by tapping it in the root of the flash drive I get an error message that the document cannot be found and this is the URL in the Android browser:

content://com.android.externalstorage.documents/document/A4DEED79DEED43E0%3Aindex.html

Please advise...

Install a file explorer on the phone

I recommend Solid File Explorer. In landscape, it's a dual pane that you can drag & drop files all day.

I've installed a file explorer now can open all the folders and files - thank you - except for index.html .. when it attempts to open in the browser I get "protected file". I've checked it's attributes and it is not protected. Any other suggestions?
