USB mini-B to serial adapter

If I was to get or fabricate a USB mini-B to serial adapter could I use an Android phone to connect to a device such as a network switch?

I would use a program such as putty or some other terminal emulator.

I have seen that this isn't possible with WM Phones, but was hoping it is possible with Android.

P.S. I am holding out for the HTC Passion at the moment, but soon very soon.

Like connect to a Cisco switch?? you are REALLY pressing your luck. I wouldnt base your purchase on doing this. By the time you pay someone to program drivers and the application to tunnel through the USB, It will cost less to buy a netbook + usb adapter.

Already have the laptop and USB adapter, that is how I do it now.
Just looking at the possibility of android devices supporting this as an option.

It looks like the Saygus device has USB Host support built in.
I am hoping that the high end HTC devices do also.
