If you're talking about usb on the go feature I had no problem connecting to i747m with the same generic cable and usb stick as I did with my I9100 out of the box.

OK. My problem with the Galaxy S3 is that when I conect via USB to my PC, Winodws dont see the S3 like a mass storage drive, and in teh Galaxy S2 is possible this option.

Thanks for you response

USB mass storage is not possible on the SGS3. It uses the media transfer protocol instead. I too had major issues getting files to and from my device (I'm a linux user so it was even more difficult!) I now use FTP, rapfox ftp server running on the phone and filezilla ftp client on my netbook, it works!

Wow...what a b-ache....

I don't know why they changed from USB mass storage to MDP...must be a reason I gues, but it doesn't make much difference to me (on Win7) It still pops up a dialogue box when plugging in the phone, and I can navigate to either 'phone' or 'card', and just drag n drop my files as before....

My tablet - Toshiba Thrive - also connects to the PC as an MTP device. I can currently hook up my Incredible to the Thrive and it will mount the incredible's internal and sdcard memory as USB devices. What's going to happen when I hook up my new S3 to the Thrive? Can 2 MTP devices see each other over the USB port?

so is there any way to connect my phone to the wince6.0 based car stereo?
i used to have a htc desire and i could easily connect that as a hard drive to play content on the stereo while charging phone.
when i connect the s3 the stereo has a window come up asking for driver for unknown usb device.
any ideas on where i can get a driver ? plus any advice on how/where to load it on the sd card the wince system is running on on the stereo.
its an xtrons TD695GD car stereo

How are you able to do it with root? I'm rooted and would really like this phone to play through my car radio..

I had this problem today. I just plugged the phone into a different USB port and it worked. No idea why.

I can mount my SGS3 as a USB drive with no issue. That's how I copied all of my music and ring tones over.

I think some might be confusing USB mass storage with MTP. All that is supported in Android now is MTP, so anything else is an OEM initiative.

MTP sucks, but that is what we have. It is slow, prone to freezing during transfer and picky on files it will work with- plus more picky on working on a device, since needs drivers. PLUS, you can not work on other files in the drive during a transfer. It sucks, but is better than iOS option. Not much, but still better.
