Help "Usb not recognized"

Im trying to root my phone but when i plug my phone into my computer it says usb not recognized. And it said tryinf to download the driver and then a error message said that i need to insert a disc for the driver? i never got a disc for the driver

It was supposed to be short at first, but it got longer and longer. You can almost definitely disreguard step 6 on though.
