USB Speakers or USB external sound card

Ok so my sound on my laptop went. The speakers nor the headphone jack works.(Well only the left ear of a headphone works if you plug it in. And yes these headphones work perfectly in my phone.) So I either have to get a USB Speakers or a USB external sound card.

Which do you recommend I get? I was looking on Amazon for external sound cards and I saw this: http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UA...UTF8&colid=3EPXN8JNCI0AN&coliid=IRKH4VVEQ6XBV

Reviews say it's good. But I wanted your guys opinion. Should I get that or USB speakers? Also not the speakers just have a headphone jack too. (That's if you recommend me any)

If the souncard in your laptop has gone, USB speakers will still not work, you'd need to go the soundcard route.

Actually USB speakers should work just fine, as the "soundcard" is actually in the speakers themselves. That's the whole idea of using USB for sound in/out, it doesn't use the PCs internal soundcard.
