Root USB Tethering Help

I had my friend root my phone a few months back, but when I tried to get all the pictures and video off the sd card and onto my computer with USB connection I got nothing. Before I had no problem connecting my phone but not after the root I can't connect it. It keeps saying "Unknown USB Device."

- I download the usb tethering software from HTC official site, and still nothing.
- The phone has an option box to check for usb sharing with PC but I can't even click it.

- The phone however connects to a work computer (I think running XP). I cannot use the computer for personal purposes.

- My PC is running Windows 7.
- Android version: 2.3.5
- Mod Version: Glacier- AOSP- 1.3.1

Can`t you try putting the micro sd card into an adapter and insert it into the computer. It worked for me. All the best.
