Help USB tethering on LG G6

Have new LG G6 (VZ988). Connected to my computer via USB and it does not work or even recognize my device. Have enabled developer mode and selected USB debugging. USB Configuration is set for MTP. When I search USB tethering, I get message stating USB not connected. What else can I try. Get as technical as you want as I am a retired Tier 5 customer support analyst for Lockheed Martin. Thanks in advance.

Wild guess on my part, but did you install any USB driver software on the computer. I know you have to install drivers in other situations (eg connect a radio to the computer)?
 
Did you turn on tethering? settings>networks>tethering

It's off by default. You do have have the cable connected to a PC for it to be able to turn it on.

Yes and as a side note, it used to work. I have tried all available USB Ports and ensured that my 2.0 drivers are up to date. All my other USB devices are working properly.

Yes, all my USB 2.0 drivers are up to date and all my other devices on USB are working properly.

Have doubled checked and under Settings>networks, there is no option to turn on tethering. I have checked in Share & Connect and the only options are NFC, Android Beam, file sharing (Bluetooth only), media server, and several mirrorlink options.

I just attempted to run the WinZip driver updater you sent me. Windows defender blocked it as a threat.
 
Just to be clear, when you say tethering you mean sharing the mobile internet resource with the PC and not simply file copying?
