USB vs. MicroSD for movies?

Hi, I need to know which is better for saving & using to view movies please. I'm not worried about adapters and such, I can use whatever is necessary. But I was originally buying MicroSD cards to save movies to and someone told me that they are memory chips and weren't really made for that. That I should use USB storage instead.
Why does it matter? Which is better? I think I might actually prefer USB, but which is better for this?

Thanks much.

If it matters: for play in my Samsung Galaxy Note2 phone or tablet

Yes, I'd say that matters. A microSD card is a perfectly acceptable medium for playing movies on your phone from.

USB is an interface, not a storage medium itself. I suspect that the person advising you was fulfilling the adage "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing." The irony is that the most popular kind of storage with a USB interface are "thumb drives", which use essentially the same thing as SD storage does. But chances are that your phone doesn't have a USB port that will accept a thumb drive.

When it comes to getting the movies from your computer (presuming that you may keep them there, and would optimize them for your phone first) to your phone, it's more convenient to use a USB cable to transfer the movie files to the phone. My computer has a convenient SD card slot and my phone's microSD card is easy to get at, so I could (and have) put the microSD card in the micro to full-size SD card adapter, and put that in the computer. I did that when I transferred my entire (compressed) music collection to the card, which took a while. But if it's a couple of movies I'd use the cable. Either way the result is the same.
