Help use my old microSD from S7 on my new S8?

Hi! I have a S7 Edge and now I bought a new S8. I want to transfer all my data and use the same microSD on my new phone with all the old data on it. Should I just put my old microSD to my new S8 and then use SmartSwitch to transfer the data from the phone memory to the S8's phone memory?

Certainly data that are in SD can be transferred just by swapping SD cards. However, I don't think that will work for apps that have been "moved to SD" - that process only moves part of the app, so for that I expect you'll have to reinstall the app on the new phone and then move it again. But media etc, sure, just swap the card.

I've not used SmartSwitch myself, but that would be my first thought for transferring data.
