I am switching from the Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-5770B to Galaxy S4. I used a SD memory card with my old phone that I now want to use with my new one. I put the SD card in the new phone but the phone isn't reading the contents. How can I format the SD card and then put all my files on it so I can access them on my new phone?

If you have any content on that card you want to keep, you might want to put it back into the old device and copy it from there to your computer before you format it.

Also there might just be a setting on the Galaxy S4 to store your files on the external sd card (/sd-ext), though it is probably found in the settings of each app that you want to store and access those files.

good luck

Thanks for your quick reply. I'm not sure how to transfer the SD files to my computer. I backed up my old phone using Kies, but am not sure that the SD files are there. How would you recommend transferring the files from the SD card to my computer and then to the new phone? Thanks!

Sorry this reply isn't as quick, my notifications are set to daily.

Anyways, it seems as though your old device is on either froyo or gingerbread. In those versions of Andoir, I believe once you plug it into your computer, you can swipe down on your notification bar and select 'mount sdcard for storage' or something like that. Then it will open just like a drive or folder on your computer. After copying, make suire you close/unmount the folder/drive on your computer before unmounting it via your phone.

Then transfer the card to your S4. However, where the option to format it is in the menus I don't know. But once formatted, when you plug it into your computer, I _think_ it should automatically come up.

good luck
