Used Samsung Note 2 for BYOD...not working

I brought my unlocked AT&T Samsung Note 2 to Metro store to switch over to their service. The told me my phone was compatible and sold me a sim kit. They put it in the phone while I waited and it worked perfectly. They asked where I lived and was then told that the service there was a little etchy so they couldn't really tell me if it worked there. My daughter has been with metro forever and has no problem connecting with her Metro Samsung S3. There was another lady in the store who also lived in my city and she says the service is good in town. Now previously I had owned a metro samsung admire and it worked perfectly in my town. Well when I get my Note 2 home, I have no service at all. Phones state says disconnected and no service. My daughter put her sim card in my phone and it also came back with the same conclusion although it works perfectly in her phone. I travel to several near by cities which Metro and TMobile show as excellent service areas on their maps...but I again still get no service at either of these places. Now when I go back to the town I bought the sim card in, it still works perfectly. What am I doing wrong? Is there a setting I need to change?

metro sims arent swappable like that, so if your daughters sim says the exact same error, id guess teh store messed up setting up your device to your sim.

And the reason why everyone you mention is getting a good signal and you are not is because they have cdma phones. Your note will using tmobile's gsm network. But it is possible that the metro people messed up da settings. 8/10 they messed up. Depending on where your located the t-mobile signal could be better then metros cdma out worse.

yea something is not right with that. When I got my wife the T-Mobile note 2 and after unlocking took it to metro store they put in a metro sim card and it works great. Have so far not had any trouble with it. maybe wrong or defective card? Hope you get it fixed
ciao

someones had to have fouled something up somewhere, my s4 worked epically, so did my note 2, and my note 3 is a beast too
