I recentlyb spent some time with a developer troubleshooting an app, and got to the point where he sent me the next version to see if it corrected the issue. Rather than bother with Astro, as I see recommended often for installing .apk files that were downloaded to the SD card, he had me go to the market for something called "tAttachApkInstaller" (just running a search for the words ATTACH, APK, and INSTALLER should bring it up). I'm recommending this app because it *completely* eliminates the need to download to the card at all, and instead puts the file directly on the phone. How cool is that? Oh, and it's freeware to boot.
