So GoSms has am update today, and to get Facebook avatars to sync, one has to pay $4.99 for 180 days of service. I'm curious as to what you all think about that? If you've paid, does it actually work?
 
I've paid for it today in the hope it'd sort the contact icon issues, sadly the issues have not been resolved, still can't see contact icons in conversation view. The premium Facebook sync just gets stuck in some eternal loop trying to update. I've emailed Dev to see if they'll reply. But up to now it's been £4 wasted.

By the time I'd fiddled with it, swore at it, kicked it around the floor etc etc, the refund option was gone (time limited unfortunately, however if problems persist I'll request one, doubt they will though)
 
I saw the update in Play the other day, and considering how each update has been worse than the next (since the Go people have gotten pretty greedy with their in-app advertising, push ads in the notification bar and now this ridiculous feature), I balked at updating the app. Was going to post here to see if anyone was brave enough to take the plunge.

The Go apps have been taking a beating in the reviews lately for the company's increasing sleaziness. I may even switch back to Handcent if it continues.

And isn't the Facebook app supposed to sync up pictures? Maybe that's a feature not supported beyond Froyo.
 
I talked with the handcent developer about the facebook issue among others. ICS (pending your on it) has blocked third party applications from accessing facebook information, hence why users on ICS do not have pictures anymore.

All I really did was go to my google contacts account on my computer, and manually set the photos up myself. Google contact photos DO show up in gosms/handcent.
 
Using ICS on a Sensation XE, I'd heard about the blocking of third party apps but know some have had success in circumventing that issue, appears though still that Go SMS Pro hasn't quite got it right, despite repeated attempts I still can't get this 'premium' feature to work, still no reply from Dev either. I'm not giving up yet, will perciveire and see what happens over the next week. It'll be a pretty damn bad show though if they don't offer any explanation / fix / refund.
 
yeah, Go SMS is pushing spam ads disguised as text messages. Real bummer. Im trying handcent now. I don't really like it.... might try pansi or chomp.

I've never had a pushed ad/text yet, will see if one does appear at some point.
Been unable to get contact icons to appear in Handcent or Chomp either.

I noticed that too.

Check the reviews on go sms. 1star down the line. I got three since yesterday's update.

There was an update yesterday?! That's odd I'm still on the update from the 20th, no change in my Google Play to say there's another, off to check it out......
 
Well it was the night of the 21st when I made that post, so the update I was talking about was from the 20th
 
I use location apps and when it reports back location it sends back info for hyperlink map.

Since update they force added the hyper link map pic. I need to see the hyper link not the map pic.

I have looked in setting to change with no luck.

Any suggestions???


gosms is about to be gone sms.
 
Update. Had replies from Dev, they are investigating, they can't replicate the problem of the contact icons not showing up but will run through my log file to see if there's anything in there.
 
It's strange. Haven't had them happen again. I'd get a text notification, check my texts, and it'd be something in poorly translated English about "try number 1 Go (enter go product here)" haven't had it happen again, but did have it three times in one day
 
Update, at the back end of last week Dev contacted me about the contact icon issues, they got me to try a fix which did partially work for a while, it stopped working but still they're working on it. So basically the paid for version of Go SMS Pro will show contact icons, to a point anyway, am sure they'll sort the bugs soon.
 
I downloaded Facebook contact sync from the play store and have been manually linking by pressing menu, edit contact, then click on the icon pic, and choosing the picture that shows up under fb contact sync, then save. The avatars then show up in GoSms. I hope this helps.
