I downloaded it last night and the original reason was for my wife's eris, since it's always been a little laggy and adw.launcher is supposedly faster and better for battery life. So, since she gets mad at me when I take over her phone, I decided to also install it on my Incredible and mess around with it from there. After one day, I've replaced most of the HTC dependent apps with alternative ones (which are in some ways better) but here are some of the issues I'm having, if anyone would like to comment:
1) Haven't located a good replacement for the HTC People Widget that brings up the contact card, from which to email, text or call. Lots of time for work reasons, that's the way to go. I've seen a couple of Apps on Appbrain but they look more like replacements for the "Favorites" widget and not really a true contact card like the HTC People widget. Any suggestions?
2) Couldn't get the all-encompassing HTC mail inbox to transfer over, just individual mail accounts, which wasn't much help. So I decided to download K9, which looks pretty sweet, but it's a little buggy, not saving my signatures or other changes I've made in the settings. My further problem is the HTC mail App is still running concurrently with the K9 even though I'm using ADW.launcher, so i'm getting duplicate emails. Which obviously sucks because I didn't necessarily want to disable the HTC mail if I decide to switch back and forth between the adw and regular Sense. I'm wondering if I can run the K9 only when I'm using ADW.launcher, and the stock email when I'm using Sense?
I'm not completely sold yet on the ADW vs. the Sense 2.1. It's obviously going to take a few days to truly compare battery life, but the speed isn't any better, because the Incredible was already lightning fast. A couple nice features are the landscape home screens and the dock on all screens, meaning you can call or send texts (for example) from any home screen.
I'd be happy to share with anyone the alternative Apps I've found to replace the HTC ones if they're interested, and maybe someone can suggest some others.
I figured out how to get the HTC People to work on ADW. You just long press on it from your apps drawer and it will show up on your homescreen like magic!!
Still need solution for the simultaneously running email clients, though!!
