using droid in foreign country

I'm going to Costa Rica next week and I want to use my Galaxy S just to listen to music. I have T-mobile. Can I just take out the SIM card and use the phone for music? Will it work? What's the best way to do it?

If you don't need any data use, just put the phone into airplane mode. You'll be fine.

You can simply go to menu>settings>wireless & Networks and disable roaming data. If you take out your sim, you won't get, or be able to make any calls, but I don't think T-Mobile has international service anyway, so either way you'd be okay. Although if you leave the sim in, it might continually search for a network and drain your battery. This way you could still hit a wifi hotspot and check your email.

Maybe that depends where the OP Originates? UK T-mobile will connect to data and GSM networks in other countries. Not only will you be charged huge cost per MB, you are also charged for receiving calls, texts, voicemail notifications etc.
