Using Personal Dictionary - not working

Hi, I just switched from an iPad to the Nexus 7. I am trying to use the personal dictionary to autocomplete my email address.

The phrase is xxxxxx@gmail.com

The shortcut is @a (I also tried others)

The Language is English (United Kingdom)

All seems pretty simple, just go to an app, type in @a and it should give me an option underneath with the full phrase. Except it doesn't work. Nothing is happening.

Any help would be awesome.

Have you tried typing the @a and then hitting space? Mine doesn't show anything until I hit the space bar. Hope that works.
