Using phone as video input

I'm trying to make a stopframe animation using a program on my laptop. Rather than using the built-in camera, I'd like to use the camera on my Android phone (HTC Evo) as the video input. That way I can set it up at whatever angle I choose, and I won't have to buy a single-purpose webcam.

Is there an app for this? Or correct setting or way of hooking up my phone to my computer? I'm using a MacBook Pro running Lion.

I feel like this should be easy, but I haven't come up with anything.

Let me know if I need to make clarifications. Thanks!
