Using two mics at the same time

Hi all,

I'm making an app for a school project and I'd like to use two mic channels at the same time. So I want to visualize both mics and there respective input (just the decibels). I want to acces an external mic that is plugged in via the audio jack and I want to use the mic on the phone itself. Is there a way to make both mics listen?

I also have a splitter. Maybe I could hook two mics up on that and use two external mics?

I hope someone can help me!

You might need a special hardware and its own app to monitor the sound levels. Not all phones have real dual microphones. The second microphone is usually used for noise cancelling feature.

Nice. I wonder how the separation of the two mic signals is done, I mean programmatically. Obviously it's possible, as the graphic there shows two signal sources.

There is a stereo splitter that allows you to plug two microphones to a single 3.5mm jack, but I don't know if it will work with an Android phone or there is an app for it. It's designed mainly for a computer's sound card with an editing software.
