V20 for Note 7 refugees

Film in VR

I was mighty impressed with the Note 7. I'm an admitted phone junkie who delighted in all the awesome features the new Note offered...sigh. At first I swore to never surrender the device" I'll just keep it!" My Wife is certain it will explode and told me there will be no serenity in my home until it's gone...
OK, so here is the question..where do I go now? I think the LG V20 looks promising, having never used an LG phone before I was hoping to get some input about this new Phone. Sprint called me today and they have an LGV20 ready to go if I want it.

I had the Note 7 and L O V E D it. I came from an iPhone 6 and had gotten sick of iOS. The Note 7 was everything I wanted. Big, fast, and a solid Android experience. I was really disappointed to have to get rid of it, but I'm actually glad I did now. I am really enjoying the V20. The second screen hasn't been the most useful thing for me yet, but I'm liking the fingerprint reader/lock on the back. The UI is, in my opinion, better; it's a lighter skin, cleaner feel, and overall a better experience. It's been great so far and is a terrific replacement for the Note 7.

I had a Note 7, got a Edge 7 during the initial recall, tried to get another Note 7, VZW was sold out, and then the second recall happened. The Edge 7 was OK, but I felt it was too much money for what it was, and I really wanted a bigger screen. The audio playback capabilities for the V20 really caught my eye, and being $100 less than the Edge 7, and $200 less than the Note 7 sealed the deal. The only other phone that I considered was the Pixel XL, but the lack of removable storage, and a price tag approaching $1000 killed that idea. I have been very happy with the V20, and the audio playback is really really good.

I am leaning towards the Lg V20 as well over the google pixel xl. I have never had an LG phone either and love my note 7 :(. how does the form fit in your hand? similar to note 7? Pixel xl looks lot closer to galaxy S and really like an iphone (yuck). I think i will try them out at a store myself this week.

I too loved the note 7 and like some, I didn't care for the s7/note 5 line. Now that I've had my v20 for about 1 week, it's growing on me. I can name the pro's and con's of the device but I'm sure you've already read about them. The width in the palm of my hand feels almost the same with the note 7 (with and w/o slim case on/off). I think v20 is wider but you can barely notice. I've used the 2nd screen mostly as a "clock" and when I control my music. Still trying to figure out what else I want to put on the shortcuts.

Thanks, that sounds good. I came from note 4 to the note 7 and loved how the curved screen utilized space to fit in my hand. i must say i always have a naked phone and always have so the distinction is appreciated. I guess i can only true know until i get them in my hand.

Any weird adjustments from Sammy to LG from an android UI standpoint? From what i read it seems like they are minor and pretty much the same android experience.

This is really hard to say because I like the V20 but there are a few things that just don't pop with LG phones. Evidently LG did away with LED's on their phones so no notification blinking..... I'm not a big fan of the 2nd screen on the V20 because it's so small but the 2nd screen itself does have some cool features. Maybe I am missing a feature or setting here but I wish you could wave your hand over the screen to brighten up the 2nd screen to see your notifications.
One thing I like on the LG that they took away on the last few Samsung's is the ability to create your own vibration pattern and Ringtones directly from the contact list.
One thing I'm having a issue with is highlighted links don't open so not sure what's going on there.
Miss the stylus but that is a easy fix, you just have to keep up with the pen and of course it's limited use.
Also not all apps in play store work with LG. That almost sounds like Apple controlling what you could use on the IPhone. I have some paid apps I can't use, that very upsetting. Up until going with LG I've never downloaded a app that did not work on any of my Samsung phones.
Sorry for the rants but it's been really rough giving up the Note 7 twice and unless you had one you'll never know how awesome that phone was. I don't think I'll ever be happy with anything else but the LG V20 will do until Samsung bounces back and they will.
