V20 to V20 WiFi Direct

Has anyone else experienced an inability to transfer files between LG devices via Wifi Direct? I used to be able to transfer files between Samsung devices that way without difficulty.

When I attempt to send files from my V20 to my wife's V20 while connected by WiFi Direct, the WiFi Direct option does not appear among the means by which the device will permit me to transmit them. The Wifi Direct connection definitely exists, though. I am also unable to share files from my V20 to my father-in-law's LG Stylo 2. Same absence of option.

I know how to do it when the option is available, but it's not, on these devices.

Anyone else noticing this?

what app are you using once connected?

I guess I'll have to test it since I don't use that feature. I've only ever traded files with someone on BT

Just using the stock "Gallery" app to select photos to transfer. With WFD connected and active , the share option from the Gallery shows pretty much everything BUT WFD.

Same thing for transferring small MP3 files using Root Explorer to select them from SD.

root explorer - do you have your phone rooted?

Did you try using the stock file explorer app on the device? I meant to try this last night but have not. I could see the gallery not having the option but I wonder about actual files browsers.

I will try and see if I have issues too but the other device I would will be testing against is a samsung note 3

It appears that you have to have both phones settings set up. Have file sharing turned on or smartshare beam.

Also you could click on the help to further help you with the setting up of all phones.

It appears to be a system issue for LG. None of my apps, native or not has a wifi direct option to share with even with two devices connected via wifi direct. The only solution is a third party app. I use ES File Explorer which now has an ES Sender feature. If you select the share button on any app including the native gallery app, ES Sender will be an option. And then you have to have ES open on the other device.
Not as convenient as my other devices.
