Venture v Intercept ($99 phone comparison)

I guess no one has the Venture yet but I am thinking of both of these for my teenage son. Same price, both have physical keyboards. Specs seem similar...?

I have heard almost entirely bad things about the intercept, but very little about the venture. You should also take a gander at the Optimus V and Optimus Slider, from what I've seen those are both quite decent :-)

The Intercept was my first Android. I personally had no issues with it (more than likely due to not using it that much). But when I gave it to my teenage daughter then it began having all kinds of issues. So I'm going to say that if you intend to not use it that much then it will serve it's purpose. Teens tend to text, talk, and facebook/twitter a ton, so I would not recommend it for them.

If you want something sturdy, get the OpV or just wait for the Venture to be out for a few months. Check the reviews then and see where the phone sits as far as reliability and sturdiness. You may regret it if you buy it before others can at least test the waters with it.

I'll sell you my wildfire for $99... (eyeing the one v) It's even rooted.

Absolutely don't get the intercept, whatever you do. Easily the worst phone ever created, by anyone, anywhere.

I used to think I needed a physical keyboard. Then I took a chance and tried a phone without one. Now I realize my dislike wasn't toward virtual keyboards, but any keyboard that is small enough to fit on a phone. If you can type on a real keyboard, then these little phone keyboards will never satisfy, whether physical or virtual, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Actually, with swype, I'd say I now prefer the virtual keyboard. Swype is pretty fast, relatively speaking.

Don't get the intercept it has the worst gpu ever angry birds is barely plays.and is slightly choppy unless you mod the crap out of it.

The Venture has supposedly been out since March 15th but I can't find anyplace that has it, including VM's site. Anyone actually seen one of these for sale?

GeesusChrist people, I have Intercept for almost a year it works fine. I talk, text, watch youtube all da time.. just dont use the app for youtube use the browse. and dont play games. BTW, VM website stopped selling Intercept since last week, so chill out.
- Oh, anyways.. I kinda want the Venture phone rather than Optimus V, Wildfire S..coz I think I like the looks of Samsung Replemish from Sprint.. so what it isn't super fast phone.
