Verizon 4g lte

ok maybe someone can help me better understand this 4g thing....people are always complaining about phones that run on the 4g lte network cause they say the battery life on their phones is horrible....does that mean just becuase your phone is on the 4g network that battery life will drain faster or does the battery on phones typically die faster only when they are web browsing and doing other applications that involve the use of the internet.,, if i only used the phone for mainly txting and only moderate web surfing would my battery still drain fast?...so in other words wouldnt the battery only suck if u were to use data all the time and 4g wouldnt really matter if u arent a heavy data user???

I think that what happens with some areas is that the phone seems to search for the 4G signal more than other areas, and that is where the phone uses a lot of power. If you are in a good signal area, you should not have that problem.

I was really nervous about battery life before I got my Droid Charge. But I have to say, I have been really surprised. I am currently getting 16-20 hours with moderate or a little more than moderate use.

You can do things to help battery life. Turn your screen brightness down, turn off GPS, turn off WIFI when not using, turn off data sync, etc.

yah i live about 40 minutes away from chicago so i should be good right? i just figured since im near a major city, im not sure about where lte has the most coverage

You can look online at the VZW website...they have a map that shows the LTE coverage.

The LTE radio drains the battery more than the CDMA radio. You can turn off the LTE radio and the battery is quite a bit better. I'm not sure about the other LTE phones but with the TB it will randomly lose 4G service and have to reconnect which drains battery. Also the screen is a large screen and uses more battery compared to smaller phones. If you get a LTE phone you will either learn ways to save battery, carry extra batteries, get an extended battery or 2, carry your charger around.

I have a Thunderbolt. Since the last update we can turn LTE off and switch to CDMA under mobile network settings. There is also an option to turn mobile data off, but then there is no email until mobile data is on. Also, battery life can be preserved by increasing the interval between sync with email servers.
