Root [Verizon] A Charging Issue

Android Expert
My wife's S3 seems to have hit some kind of issue with charging. She unplugged from the wall chrger on Saturday morning only find that it had not fully charged overnight - I think it was showing like 68%. We have tried switching out the USB cable but it doesn't seem to make much difference. It simply will not reach 100% charge...

Any ideas? (I did a search on this subject and appears there are several with same issue but there are NO answers to those pleas for HELP!

HELP!:D

If it is rooted, use an app to clear the battery stats. I think I had the same issue awhile back, where it would never get upto 100% charge. I used the "clear battery stats" in the wipe options in RomToolbox Pro & it worked . . .

Not sure that it needs to be rooted to do this with other apps . . .

Orrrr . . . did you try a different battery . . . maybe switch it with yours ??

Hey thanks Talon! Her device is stock, unrooted and yes we did switch batteries but no significant change.

I will look at dropping a battery app for her device and try wiping as you suggested :)

...Something she just reminded me of: this morning the battery appeared to be fully charged, BEFORE pulling it off the charger. Immediately upon disconnection it dropped to 64%

We're going to use another charger tonight to see if it acts better in the morning...I'll let you know :smokingsomb:

You could be on to something there Mister! (See my previous post.)

I will report back the findings of this most complicated scientific experimentation :p

Was on charger all night with known good charger and her USB cable BUT was discharging throughout the night even tho the little 'lighting bolt' was visible on battery icon.

Battery history chart shows trickle down from 78% (at time of charger connection) to 66% when unplugged this morning. One point of interest is, around 11:00pm last night the history shows a small blip 'up' from 75% to 77%!? It then discharged from 66 - 47% in about 1 hour of use this morning....hmmmmmm :confused:

Battery health = Good

Hmmm, I wonder if a pin from a cable became dislodged and is now stuck in the charging port of your wife's device ?

Get out your magnifying glass :p

Again, you Sir, may be on to something!!! :p

I'll take a look see later. She has said that the cable is not as secure as it used to be so it may not be making appropriate contract inside the port!

Thanks Mike :D

EDIT: There does not appear to be any obstruction
