Root [Verizon] After CleanROM 7 Flash, Can't Sync Samsung Acct.

Hey!

I just flashed CleanROM 7 and I've got all other accounts to sync but the Samsung Account shows "Sync Disabled." I have tried other remedies I've found searching, such as enabling sync in Gmail (?) and my Sync toggle is on which corresponds to the Settings>Data Usage>Settings sync checkbox, but nothing seems to work.

The only issue is I've been using S Calendar so I can't get my calendar appointments. I may have been able to sync it via Kies to my PC but I didn't think of that before.

I've searched xda and across the Google sphere and I have found a couple of solutions that didn't work and a conspiracy theory that involves Verizon, but it worked before.

Any ideas would be appreciated.:)

Well I reinstalled my stock ROM and did a Nandroid restore and all is back to normal.

However, I was forced to change my Samsung acct password in CleanROM and so the sync on bootup didn't work. I put in my new password and it worked but I was asked to confirm my password which Samsung requests "periodically." Also, the Samsung acct feature updated, as it did when I accessed it with CleanROM.

I also observed that when I reinstalled Titanium Backup on CleanROM, it informed me that my "Android Number" had changed, and showed it - a 8 digit or so number, and might be a problem for certain apps, and would I like to reinstate my old one?

I'm started to guess that I may have accessed and perhaps updated the Samsung acct sync before I had setup TB and reinstated my old number?

Just an idea. I'm going to put CleanROM back on after using Kies to backup my calendar and see what happens.

You know . . . that`s weird. I`m running CleanRom but version 6R2. I tried CleanRom 7 & the same thing happened to me. I think it`s a bug in the Rom itself or the version of the google apk that gets loaded with the rom. I went back to my backed-up 6R2 . . . Did an initial google account sign-in on the device, It connected fine, syncd up right away & all was fine after that . . .

Sorry . . . I just read your post again & realized that you`re talking about the Samsung acct . . . not google. I never had any luck setting up/syncing the Samsung account. It was always glitchy/tempermental so I just deleted it. Wonder if it`s something in all the CleanRom versions. Can`t say because I`ve been running it for so long Than I can`t remember which rom(s) I tried the Samsung acct on . . .

I'm with you TALONTRAX. I did reinstall the CleanROM 7 again and was able to get the Samsung sync telling me it was syncing, but in fact it didn't do anything. I called Samsung when I bought the phone and they couldn't tell me what it was really doing or what is was supposed to do. I talked to a couple of people.

I'm also having a problem with Verizon's Backup Assistant Plus, which syncs the contacts, plus media stuff if you want. That worked the first time and not the second. I'm not honestly sure it worked on my stock ROM!

I'm gonna have to find another auto-syncing solution I think if I'm gonna use this ROM. I have been able to get my Calendar and Contacts synced with Kies, but I don't want to use that ever unless I have to! (What a pain in the tukus THAT is!)

Never had any luck with verizon's backup assistant either . . . It would mostly hang/crash also. Actually . . . When I first went to CleanRom,(5.xx),the verizon backup assistant was omitted in the rom (along with alot of other "bloatware")& I haven't even had it on the phone since. I just use Google, which works & syncs perfectly. Also I think the backup assistant would never fully sync, so it would continue to try to finish, & consume a ton of battery/memory. I would just stick with google . . .

I'm not sure but I don't think Google is backing up my phone Contacts and SMS. I think the "contacts" they are backing up is the Gmail contacts or anything Google related.

It does say under "Back up and reset" Settings>Personal>Back up and reset it says it backs up app data, wifi passwords and other settings to Google servers. Also you can choose stuff in the Google Acct including Contacts and Calendar.

EDIT: I just did a flash and tried to restore with Google but only Google stuff restored. Phone Contacts, SMS, Call logs, Calendar - not.

However, I finally got it through my thick skull that TB was taking care of this for me! It didn't work as advertised, though. Call Logs went through okay I think, but I had to wipe data first for Contacts and SMS to take. I couldn't get anything out of Calendar backups.

I can't remember the exact detail now, but if you have problems with restoring from TB, use Wipe Data and then restore the data and/or app.

Also I was able to get Samsung Acct sync to show successful results syncing but it did not return my Contacts or Calendar. It did sync S Memo.

I'm going to do some other testing to see if I can get the S Planner (Calendar) to sync, otherwise I guess I'll have to give it up for the many other options out there that can easily sync.

Still haven't got Backup Assistant Plus to work, guess I'm giving up on that one.
:egg:

I was able to get S Planner to sync from TB after WIPING DATA!

So, I can now access Drop Box with this new ROM and have TB auto sync to the cloud I hope. This will solve all of my problems and I can feel safe continuing with this new ROM (be gentle - it's my first time!)

I had to wrestle with TB quite a bit before I found the trick. I didn't read every page on their website but still I didn't find this. Now though, if it works, cool!:smokingsomb:
