My husband and I were on a cruise to Bermuda recently, so I expected to incur some global roaming charges for when we were able to use our phones in Bermuda. However, on the ship, we were only sporadically able to use text messaging...data services did not work on the ship. When I got my bill, there were $87 in data charges that were said to have occurred on the ship. I called Verizon and explained to them that while I did attempt to use data service while on the ship, it was not successful. I did not ask the entire $151 of all data charges (from Bermuda and the ship) to be removed - I simply asked for the cruise ship charges ($87) to be removed since the service didn't work. Verizon removed the $87 with no problem. I've found with Verizon that if you make a reasonable request and have a solid reason for making the request, Verizon usually will accommodate.

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing the story. Kind of nice to hear good stories about carriers on occasion.

I agree wholeheartedly.

They are folks at work, at their job for the day, just like anybody else. A friendly approach with a true issue works wonders.
