Verizon cutting prices again!

I have unlimited on 3 of my 4 lines, only 1 line is a heavy hitter. I may have to give them a call and see about this, I could save a chunk of money...a BIG chunk of money. I want to keep unlimited but I want to keep some money too.

They have started all types of goodies since I left in Dec...they even gave the wife a good deal for a phone & plan.

Just got off the phone with CS, they are sticking to their guns about having to be part of Edge in order to get this plan pricing. Since I am contract-free and not willing to join Edge they won't give me 12GB/$110 with $15 per line. With my discount that would actually come to about $170/month, that would be a huge savings for me but they won't let me have it. Of course. She went through all the loyalty plans she could offer but I'd end up paying more or the same for less. I want to pay less for less. It's Verizon, that's not happening I guess

This may actually make me give up unlimited data. Can't believe I'm saying that but I could save $30/month with a 10gb plan and I honestly don't ever come close to that.

It really is a good price if you are willing to do the Edge plan. That's the catch, you have to enroll in Edge and that will add another ~$20 to your bill per line.

For the price of the phone you mean? I'm OK with that. Once the phone is paid off, the price drops.

No it doesn't. Once the phone is paid off, you are no longer on Edge and you lose the $25 discount. The only way to get the discount is to have a phone payment.

What if you purchase your device(s) through a 3rd party like Target, Costco or Best Buy? Can you still take advantage of the new plan pricing? Or, are you not eligible?

Nope. Only if you purchase your device from Verizon via Edge.

which should demonstrate just how big of a ripoff the edge program is...

a true cash cow for them...... I get that they wont discount the service for anyone who gets a subsidy on a phone.. because they have to absorb the price of the phone... but to charge less for edge service than someone who brings their own phone means even with a discounted service rate they are making more money on edge than they are full service price without you paying out the arse for the phone

my guess (as well as many others guess)...... they are trying to move completely away from offering subsidies on phones

Apparently, yes. It does say 'limited time' offer so anything could change and you'd probably have to call once your phone's paid off.
I'm going to be calling later, it may really be time to give up unlimited and save ~$60/month.

I think the limited time refers to the early upgrade to Edge. That expired on 3/31, then got extended to 4/30.

every month when i pay my vzw bill i'm reminded how bad i'm getting hosed. ...i've been out of contract on both my lines for 6 months now...if i was on Tmo and the devices were paid off my bill would be about 50$ cheaper right now. ..really hope Tmo comes through with the 2g upgrades in their network.

I have 8 lines on my plan. Now that I get a $25 discount per line that's on Edge (3 so far, all the rest before the early Edge promotion ends at the end of the month), it works out to about $40 per line, including a new phone every year. That seems like a really good deal. Hard to complain, really.

Yeah, they've come around a bit. Still hate the no more unlimited option for a decent price though. I do think I'm going to switch on Thursday. I re-did the math and I will save about $80 or so a month. I can't pass that up just to keep unlimited. Still get to remain contract-less so that's a win too.

Most likely dropping two Verizon unlimited data lines. No sense in having them if we don't have signal... Testing out AT&T phones for a couple weeks while we still have Verizon. So far AT&T signal has been much better than Verizon in our area and the 10 gb for $160 isn't bad.

Hey Verizon... Can you hear me now? ...didn't think so. :-(

I'm on Verizon.

Everyone I know who is working out of a truck in this area is using US Cellular. They have the best coverage. It is hilly (quasi mountains).

The reason is unusual.

US Cellular has the fewest towers in the area and rents the most tower space from other carriers.

yeah i guess it is a good move for people of 4 lines or more...i only have 2 and we share 4 gb of data and have never went over that....where is the discount for me? oh there it is ...i see it at Tmo....

Wonder if this will get extended again? Maybe they will have something like it come Summer. The sounds of that LG G3 are peeking my interest. Bit announcement not due to late May. Hmmm...
