Should also allow hotswapping between devices. For example, you can insert your lte sim card into a laptop, and use your data for that machine. Later you can remove the sim card and place it back into your phone, allowing data on that device.

The shared family plan thing has me interested. I was gonna switch to one to have more than one phone to really compare phones or to just have more than one phone.

I never did it cuz 1: I saw you had to get separate data plans; 2: I didnt know if I was staying with Verizon past the summer. If I do stay I might just do the family plan thing.

to keep their unlimited data plans. Otherwise it smells a bit like bait-and-switch.

I would guess if you already have an unlimited plan, you will keep it. At least until your next upgrade and new contract. At that point you might be forced into a capped plan. But, Big Red is not going to break every data plan contract it has and force current customers into a tiered plan.

VZW would never go for that. I agree it would be a consumer friendly gesture but they won't make as much money doing it that way.

I'd be thrilled to be able to share 2GB/month with my wife for the same $30/month I currently pay for "unlimited". I've never even come close to exceeding 1GB and my wife would probably be a lighter user than me. But she doesn't want to spend more than we're already spending in order to get herself a data plan.

I've heard rumors that if the capped tier plans come out and you are due for a new phone/contract, you're screwed if you go to the 4g data plan. So needless to say I will be shopping asap for a 4g phone.
