Verizon discount promotion...

Havent been on here much, so not sure if this info is already out there... but I thought I would share anyway.

Called Verizon with a question on my bill and the guy tells me he can do $9.99 data for 1 year as long as I extend my contract for one year. Doesn't change the upgrade status, just the contract.
I did it on 2 lines... that's some major savings!
 
Unlimited. And he said after the year I would go back to 29.99 for unlimited.
One of the lines didn't require a new contract, i guess because of where it is in the contract right now. But the other line did require a one year extension.

He just threw that on me. Wasn't even looking for discounts.
So I'm sure if someone calls and asks about it, they should be able to get it.
 
Hot damn, time to call VZW and change my other unlimited data to 9.99 (I already upgraded in Sept to the BIONIC and my contract is already locked in on that phone).
 
Crap, we have the smaller plan, I think. Let me see how much of a difference it would be in price....
 
I don't have unlimited text, I have 500 MSGs with unlimited VZW to VZW.

Which reminds me, we pay $10 for them, and yesterday I talked to VZW Online Chat about another line and was informed they restructured a bit and now you get 1000 MSGs w/ free VZW to VZW for $10.
 
If you add a year contract, its a 9.99$ discount on each line's data plan for a year....you do have to have unlimited .txt. So, I switched and added it......I had planned on adding unlimited .txt anyway so it was a good deal for my 2 line family plan. thanks folks for the head's up.
 
does this deal mean that you wont be eligible for the NE2 discount that you get for renewing your plan? Seems to make sense, 12 months x $20 savings is $240, roughly the discount given on a new smartphone purchase credit

No. This will not affect your upgrade status at all. You'll still be eligible on the same date you are now. But when you do upgrade, of course you'll have to start a fresh 2 year contract. But you probably wont be that far into it if you've done this discount.
 
this is legit.. just called and rep confirmed it, unfortunately that dept is closed today but the same rep is calling back tomorrow and taking care of my lines. 9.99 discount on each of my 3 data lines for 12 months... $360 for the year.. thanks guys!!
 
They had the same promo last year around the same time. (January)

Basically you need 1400 mins or higher and have to have 5 lines. It is unlimited data and text. $9.99 unlimited data PER line. Great deal. They even pushed up the upgrade date to let me upgrade to smartphones to be eligible!
