Root [Verizon] Does OTA Update prevent from rooting and/or unlocking boot loader?

Hey guys...I have a question regarding accepting the Verizon OTA update. When I first rooted my GS3, I quickly did a backup so I won't lose original stock rom. I'm contemplating of selling my GS3 because I might leave Verizon and hit up T-Mobile. Anyways, my friend who's buying my phone may want to root later, so if I accept the update and it unroots my GS3, will he be able to root again and unlock the boot loader after accepting update?

Superuser has an OTA survival option that may work. If it doesn't, there's nothing stopping you from re-rooting and unlocking the bootloader (AFAIK, you will lose both if the OTA actually works).

Or you could flash a stock (not rooted) VRALHD ROM (which re-locks the bootloader and wipes internal SDcard), accept the VRALHE update, then re-root and unlock.

Or you could not worry about it and let your buddy decide what he wants to do.
