Verizon G900V update

ironass

Extreme Android User
Users on the carrier minority variant for Verizon (USA) model SM-G900V are receiving an Android 5.0 update to LRX21T.G900VVRU2BOK3.

VZW = USA (Verizon)

This would appear to be a security update in line with the recent OJ1 firmware releases for the international model that was pushed out in Sep: & Oct:

In... Settings > About device > Android security patch level... it should show, "2015-11-01".

Looks as though that this is just a security patch.

Changelist = #4782027

Exactly the same changelist # as the old OE1 and OG5 releases from June and July. So, just a security patch then I guess. No new features.

Grrrrrr!!!!!

back when I had 4.4.4 on my S5, they never, ever, gave me a chance to say NO!!! gawd dern them critters at Verizon.

then when I bought a Note 4, it came to me with 4.4.4 on it, and thought I was in Hog Heaven again.

idiot that i was, I woke up at 2 AM one night and in a sleepy fit, stupidly plugged the SIM card into my Note 4 and turned it ON. !@#$%^&* did I get to say no???? hell no...... I never got a chance to tell it no.

when it awoke from the longest Turn On cycle I have ever seen, it was on Lollipop !@$#

Anybody else notice after the update, the phones screen turns on now just by picking it up. My phone NEVER did that before update. How do I disable that?

Unlike stock Samsung phones, Verizon do not offer firmware updates usually... just patches to very, very, old firmware.

Take a look at their releases for Android 5.0, Lollipop this year...

Firmware OA8 Build date 27 JAN 15 Changelist #3846539 UPDATE

Firmware OC4 Build date 18 MAR 15 Changelist #3846539 PATCH

Firmware OD5 Build date 29 APR 15 Changelist #4782027 UPDATE

Firmware OE1 Build date 18 JUN 15 Changelist #4782027 PATCH

Firmware OG5 Build date 31 JUL 15 Changelist #4782027 PATCH

Firmware OK3 Build date 01 NOV 15 Changelist #4782027 PATCH

So, as you can see, the last actual firmware update from Verizon was back in April and since it takes them around 2 months to add their bloatware and manipulate and alter the stock Samsung firmware that it is based on... then the actual Samsung build will be from late February or early March, 2015 that you are now running on.

Compare this to, say, my own unbranded stock Samsung phone which has received 7 UPDATES and 1 PATCH and is currently on changelist #6364590

That has nothing to do with the Verizon update.

something changed the "Motion Gestures" settings.

Go there and turn off everything, that is what I did.... I do NOT want any of that Automated Crap.
