Samsung announces LTE Galaxy Tab 8.9, LTE Galaxy S II | ZDNet

Is Samsung serious about LTE? It sure seems so, judging by its announcement of the LTE-ready Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab S II LTE. The pair were announced ahead of their official reveal at IFA this week, and bring with them a handful of changes from their non-LTE counterparts. In particular, both devices are getting the bump up to 1.5 GHZ chips. The upgraded Galaxy S II is also geting the improved 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display.
There is no word on price or availability, but there

Not really, considering this little gem from BGR:

Verizon Wireless exclusively launching Samsung DROID Prime in October

My guess is that the SGSII LTE will be an early 2012 model, if this rumor pans out for an Oct release. Also, the initial report from BGR on this phone being readied for release was 18 August. Shortly thereafter (what, maybe 3-5 days?) VZW announced it was passing up the SGSII 3G....

I think VZW has been negotiating for this Prime for a while now....

I actually spoke with a Samsung rep on tuesday about this. From what she told me the Prime is supposed vanilla. She used the words "Google Branded" and refused to explain further (she didn't know exactly what she was talking about anyways.)

But she did mention the next phone is the galaxy series will be 3D also.

Forgot to add the Stratophere coming soon. LTE. Looks a lot like the Sprint Epic.

vanilla would mean that it is the new Nexus varient. FYI.

which also means NO TOUCHWIZ UI!!!!! Thank the gods....

I wanted to get the Samsung Galaxy S II as my first smartphone but I see Verizon is not going to offer it. I would want LTE and want to stay with Verizon. I am not in a rush. What is the best phone that is available or that I should wait for?

james you should wait for the droid prime, it might be the same as the sgs2, and it might be the nexus prime, filled with verizons bloat. only time will tell.

Thanks!!! I have been looking around and rumor has it that the Nexus Prime will be an updated GSII. I guess it would not be a droid since it is Samsung. Patiently waiting ...

I was reading another thread where people were really negative because Samsung's software updates are very slow to none. Thoughts?

yes, but conversely from what I understand, Samsung is the best manufacturer for rooting friendly/mod friendly development.
