Root [Verizon] Help rooting Verizon S3 4.4.2 with towelroot.com

Hello,

Newbie here...

I have a Verizon Samsung S3 4G-LTE (SCH-I535) that I would like to root before moving to TMobile. I've already terminated my Verizon account, factory reset the device and enabled developer options and Settings->Security->Unknown Sources. From Settings->About phone:
Model #: SCH-I535
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband version: I535OYUDNE1
Kernel version: 3.4.0 (May 20, 2014 KST)
Build number: KOT49H.I535VRUDNE1
SE for Android status: Enforcing SEPF_SCH-I535_4.4.2_0016
Hardware version: I535.10

From my research, it seems like I should use towelroot.com to root the device. Using WI-FI on the device and stock browser, I navigate to https://towelroot.com and click on the red lamba to download tr.apk, but it's always unsuccessful. Any help, tips, would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

Unsuccessful?
What error are you getting?
The reason I ask is, I have the exact same device with the exact specs you posted. De activated device, on wifi too.
Not sure if it helps but have you enabled USB debugging?
Towel root worked for me:)

Thanks for replying to my post...

Yes, I have enabled "USB debugging" and "Security->Unknown Source". Everytime I select the "red lamba", the download starts and eventually times out with "Download unsuccessful". Is it possible to download "TR.APK" to a PC/MAC, move it to SD and install it from the SD card??

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have the Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-i535). The Android version I currently have is 4.3. I do not have root because 4.3 version is Knox. I tried to update to KK 4.4.2 via OTA but the update fails. I am going to download the update from Sammobile.com than flash it via ODIN and see if that works. If it does than would it be possible to root and how? Have I ever been rooted? Yes, but before 4.3. Why before 4.3? Because 4.3 is Knox boot loader.

Also, if someone sees a related thread than please do me a favor and please merge the threads. Thank you! :)

So, I just recently got a Galaxy S3 (4.4.2) activated on Verizon and it sounds like rooting it would be beneficial in many ways. However, while I have experience jailbreaking some devices (mainly ipods), this is my first Android device, not to mention my first smartphone. Is this safe? Would it be easy for a beginner like me? Or would it just be easier to leave as is? I really would like to have the benefits of a rooted android, but I have 0 experience and don't want to make a mistake that would kill my phone. Please help.

I'm having the same issue with my Boost/Sprint S3 on 4.4.2

I have no options to disable Knox. I've tried every way possible to root it without a PC with no success. Also tried to disable Knox through my apo manager with no luck either.

I constantly have a SE notification and through Clean master apo when I try to keep apps from auto starting it tells me to allow clean master through my SuperSu, which I clearly don't have.

Any ideas? Screenshot_2015-09-06-23-35-20.png Screenshot_2015-09-06-16-54-54.png Screenshot_2015-09-07-17-23-38.png
