Root [Verizon] Jumpin' ship

Hey guys! Been a while since I've had the time or the interest in messing with my device. I still like the fact that I'm rooted and I think I will do so at some point with the next device I get.

Before I leave my rooted S3 and start fresh with say a HTC M8, what do I need to do to be sure in not losing some important stuff on apps that are only for rooted devices? TiBu, Greenify, Locale and others. This probably should be something I know but I've forgotten! Is it as simple as backing up my device to my laptop then at some point in the future when I root I simply use those files? Duh...

Yeah, I've had mixed results with TiBu in the past but I haven't done any ROM flashes in so long that I can't say if it would be better or not now. Maybe I'll look into the app mentioned above... heck, I might even have it in my repertoire of apps!

As far as your paid apps go, if your new device is also Android, Just setup your current Gmail/google account(the same one you`re using now)on your new device. Then go to the play store & click on "my apps" on the top left. There will be a full list of all the apps you have downloaded under that account, & you will be able to re-download them to your new device.

Yes, I'm familiar with that process but I would like to - at some point in my lifetime! - find an app that is simple to use in the restoring process for the apps and the DATA for those apps. I've had very spotty success with TiBu when needing to restore to a new ROM or reset of device. This MyBackup Pro is supposed to be a piece of cake IF you believe the vids on YT or the Dev's claim but I can't get it to work! Agh! :p

Can you backup your user apps and data via TB, then on your new device, when rooted, restore those apps and data?

(See my above comments on TiBu)

Not sure how soon I will be rooting so that's why I was looking for a viable alternative...:)

Then use Helium Backup, good for rooted or unrooted phones.

It can't do everything with the unrooted case, but nothing else can either.

Hence, root.

It happened this morning! I rooted the device, loaded my ext sdcard and restored from Helium. Worked great! Thanks for the help :)
