Help Verizon Messenger Notification Issue

Hi There,

I've recently updated Messenger on my HTC 10. I've noticed one major issue that is different than how it used to work. The Sound Notification will not alert me a new message was sent to me, WHILE, I have the persons Message Thread open. It also has a newly added "unread message". I would like to hear the alert notification to every message that comes in; if I have the thread open, I don't get the alert and that bugs me. Anyone else seeing this on the new update? The settings don't look like it has a clear option to make this happen....? Thanks

I'm seeing, and experiencing the same issue after the last update.
I have the LG G5.
Unfortunately, I cannot find a solution yet.

I'm on version 6.4.4, what version are you on?

Yea, I have the 6.4.4 as well. I haven't heard anyone else complaining about it, which is why I posted this here. It'll be nice to hear from somebody about how to change the sound alerting on the messages...since its occurring on different phone brands.

same same. I get the vibrate, but no audible alert. also noticed the same thing in FB Messenger. would love to know a fix or cause since I use both frequently and, while I can obviously see that I got a message, if I set my phone down and walk away, with the message still open, I have no idea I got new messages until I check again. I'm not THAT glued to my phone...
