Verizon is continuing to attack the Internet of Things (IoT) space.
The carrier today announced availablity of a Cat1 LTE network for IoT, which aims to fill in the void left by legacy 2G network.
The new offering will service low-cost, low-bandwidth applicaitons, such as tracking and monitoring solutions.
The news comes in the wake of Verizon's new ThingSpace, an IoT platform that offers developers a set of APIs to enable the building of new solutions.

"Our goal is to help accelerate market adoption for IoT by making the ecosystem as accessible as possible for developers to bring their solutions to market," said Mark Bartolomeo, vice president, IoT Connected Solutions at Verizon.
