Root [Verizon] Problem with Flashing CM 10

Torpey13

Lurker
Last night I rooted my GS3 running 4.1.1 using the guide found on xda. Everything went smoothly so I then downloaded the stable build of CM 10 from their website. I put it in my downloads folder, booted into CWM and installed the zip, but when I rebooted I got stuck on the cyanogenmod boot animation (blue circle). Can somebody tell me where I went wrong? This is my first time trying out a custom Rom. I have gotten my phone to work again by flashing the stock 4.1.1 Rom in Odin.

Thanks

Before or after installing CM? Sorry fdoesn'tking dumb questions, I'm new to this scene.

You do it in CM. I wipe before and after flashing, most wipe before flashing the ROM I believe. It doesn't hurt doing it a couple of times. Just remember when you wipe data you will lose your apps and setup. But it's necessary pretty much everytime you flash a new ROM. The better you wipe, the more stable and faster the ROM and kernel are. And sometimes people will say you don't need to wipe. I NEVER go that route, because it almost always creates some issue down the road. And you never know if the ROM sucks or if it's a I didn't wipe issue. I cannot stess the importance of a clean install, any developer you talk to may say sometimes it's not necessary, but they personally always do it anyway. Do like the people that make the stuff and deal with the setup issues to get it right the first time. There is an app 9. The market called titanium backup, it will backup your apps and data, it will put it on the phone much faster than downloading from the market. Next time you get your apps and data in like you want, run that and the next time you install a ROM you can just restore you apps quickly. Then you can reinstall the data to apps "as needed" to avoid conflicts with the new ROM.
