Verizon reasoning

Lurker
So I can not text message anyone linked to facebook on my Droid X2 because....... their number has the 1 in front of the 10 digit number. I was told this is a network issue because the 1 causes issues with routing the data (verizon rep) and that I should have to go back through and edit all my contacts which you can not do since they are linked to facebook and it pulls directly from THEIR profile. Now is this a little ridiculous?

I know for a FACT that with my blackberry Storm 2 I could send text messages to these numbers with the 1.

Anyone else have this problem? Its a droid x2 on the verizon network and I put this thread in the verizon section because I thought it was hilarious for their reasoning and then telling me that I would have to alter all of my contacts by making a new contact and joining them with the facebook contacts......

I have never been able to send a text message to any number with more than 10 digits on any phone I've ever had.

I was able to on my blackberry.....

I stand corrected. I just had a friend with a blackberry edit my number by putting a 1 in front and send me a text, I received it.

Then I deleted her message, edited her number putting a 1 in front, sent her a text and she received it.

So was I fed bullshit by verizon?

I have a Droid X, all my contacts are linked to Facebook (thus having a "1" in front of the number) and my texts work flawlessly each time.

Sounds like that rep did not know what they were talking about and fed you a line to get you off of the phone. Ask for "tier 2" tech support and call from a different phone. If they can't fix the issue quickly, they will determine it's a defective device and send you one that can text.

does this same problem with txting and facebook contact numbers on:
Samsung Galaxy S Continuum and HTC Droid Eris. both on Verizon Network.

and even if you delete all the messages and contacts and unlink your facebook account....the 1+ number magically keeps reappearing
