Root [Verizon] S3 not working

I have an S3 I bought used from a reputable dealer about 6-8 months ago. It had a cracked screen when I bought it and worked correctly. I put it in an otterback case to prevent further damage. It worked correctly until about 2 weeks ago. I went to make a phone call and it wouldn't work. I waited and still nothing. Called Verizon with my land line thinking their area towers were down. They said no and did some over the phone troubleshooting. Found out I also had no text messaging or internet service at that time. After about an hour on phone with them it started working.

Later that night same thing happened. So while going to get something for supper we stopped at above dealer I bought phone from and tech was gone. They sent me across street to Verizon. Gal there worked on phone for over an hour and replaced SIM card. Eventually it started working again. Left to go eat, 1 hour later it quit completely again. It was now after hours.

Next day went back to Verizon and they tried new SIM card and nothing. Tried rebooting system and nothing. Touch screen works fine. Cannot dial out or receive phone calls, cannot send or receive text messages, had no internet. Last week tech came in to above dealer and we replaced SIM card reader. Went back to Verizon, had phone activated with new SIM card and had internet but still no luck with telephone or text messaging.

I am on the unlimited plan and had them reactivate my old Motorola Droid original version. Am using it and it is REALLY SLOW and locks up often. Getting really frustrated with slow phone or no phone. Sorry for being so long and drawn out but wanted to try and explain everything happening so it could maybe get resolved.

Side note, I called Samsung also and got told to send it in that they would fix screen first before doing anything but wanted $130 to do that before anything else. The local dealer put in a new antennae and not helping yet either. Don't know whether to send in to Samsung or what? Any suggestions?

Do you have a custom ROM installed? This happened to me once when I went to a different ROM. I went to VZW and tried the SIM but it didn't work. The ROM changed one of the settings, I changed it back and it worked. If you go into settings/more settings/mobile networks/ Once you're in there go to "Network Mode" then "System Select" then "CDMA subscription" and post what you see here. With me it was "CDMA subscription"/NV, I changed it back to RUIM/SIM and it worked.

What version of Andorid you running? and what ROM? (if any)

I have never changed anything on it. Phone was taken in to Verizon Saturday and sent back to Samsung. I will let you know what I find out when I get it back. Thanks though.
