Verizon Skype

Will rooting the phone allow apps for other providers to be installed and run properly? I need Skype badly on my new Samsung Captivate. It's the one thing I miss from the iPhone.

I am pretty sure you cannot do that. However there are skype alternatives in the market. Fring use to work until lately.

Skype has a partnership with Verizon so don't expect it on any other network anytime soon.
