Root [Verizon] Still unlockable?

Is this phone still able to be unlocked or unlocked via the exploit? The last I heard on this was that the latest software update kills the unlock exploit. True?

Also, is their a way to factory unlock the device without the exploit? I'm wanting to retire the Gnex and go with this one...

Unlock - the bootloader? The SIM lock? The lock screen?

The update doesn't block the root exploit. I haven't tried it yet but I see guys on XDA using other carriers. In settings on some ROMs u can choose from tons of radio's which will work for other carriers.
